The empire grows as Kim Kardashian West prepares to launch her first perfume under ther KKW Beauty brand, which first launched in June 2017. The first collection will include three eau de parfums, all themed on the gardenia, Kardashian’s favorite flower.
In a shout out to California new ageism, The scents are package in a crystal shaped bottle and are called Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Citrus and Cyrstal Gardenia Oud, a reference to the crystals she used to help heal after being robbed in Paris last year.
“I just wanted a bottle that was so simple that can look like it’s something sitting on your counter and be a beautiful object. I tried to make it really timeless so that it can’t just all be about a celebrity fragrance,” said Kardashian in an interview with WWD.
Kardashian described production for the three scents as is in line with her first two makeup launches, translating to a total of 300,000 bottles of perfume. WWD estimates she could rake in $14.3 million for a sold-out launch.
The Crystal Gardenia launch will be followed by an entirely new scent and bottle in February in advance of Valentine’s Day.
This is not Kardashian’s first foray in the category. She’s been doing fragrance since 2009 through a licensing deal with Lighthouse Beauty that recently ended. The 37-year-old business mogul is making the scent with fragrance maker Givaudan, which handled her scents with Lighthouse Beauty as well.
Each scent will be package in a 30-ml. and 75-ml. bottle, priced at $35 and $60, respectively. The collection will be sold at online retailer Violet Grey’s sole retail store at 8452 Melrose Place in Los Angeles and kkwfragrance.com. Offerings are limited and will not be restocked.
