Pharrell Williams and Dutch model Imaan Hammam wear Chanel for one of Vogue‘s December 2017 covers. Shot by Mario Testino, the editorial is themed on the very au courrant high-end sport look with labels including Gucci, Prada, Fenty by Puma, Adidas Originals, among others. The Vogue cover is a first for Pharrell though not Hammam, who’s been featured on two U.S. Vogue covers and multiple global titles.
In the article, Pharrell discussed his upcoming N.E.R.D. album and what inspires his style. He also made an interesting comment on being fatigued by an obsession with surface appearances. “We’re drunk on aesthetics,” he said. “Everything is so beautiful these days, so polished, so sparkly. But what is beautiful? It’s an established standard that the people who have the power have agreed on. I want to be turned on by something. I want to be lit up by something, and not just by how something looks. What does it mean? How does it make me feel? That’s where I am right now.”
