The British Fashion Awards took place last night (December 4, 2017) at London’s Royal Albert Hall where Calvin Klein Raf Simons took home designer of the year. At the same time, Off-White designer Virgil Abloh was awarded the urban luxe design, creating yet another awkward moment for Simons, who famously dismissed Abloh in a GQ interview last year.
Following on the heels of her fabulous British Vogue cover (the first under editor-in-chief Edward Eninful’s direction), Adwoa Aboah took home the model of the year award, topping both Hadid sisters. Aboah wore a pink faux fur cape by Burberry on the red carpet and a sequin dress by Michael Halpern who took home the British emerging talent award.
As sponsored by the British Fashion Council, the organization also took a moment to remember lost greats Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani and designer Azzedine Alaïa, whose tribute was led by model great Naomi Campbell.
Attendees included Vogue chiefs Anna Wintour and Edward Eninful, FKA Twigs, Jourdan Dunn, Zendaya and Erykah Badu, who presented Aboah with her award.
