Separated-at-birth labels MadeMe and X-Girl are going halves on a collaborative shoe with Vans, an item that will offered exclusively at Opening Ceremony.
The two labels are working with Vans Wally silhouette, a shoe that made its debut in 1996 and is being brought out of retirement for the effort. The shoe is marked by extra-wide laces and a “flying-V” Vans logo. The shoe also includes a MadeMe and X-Girl logo on the shoes tongue.
Up until now, the skate shoe category has been dominated by minimalist silhouettes. As big a trend as chunky sneakers are right now, one has to wonder if the return of the Wally sneaker isn’t a sign that the skate category is going to also circle back to the padded look, too.
Exclusively available at Opening Ceremony, look for this jaunty shoe to drop in four colors on December 15, 2017. No pricing at the moment but we will update when we have that info.
