Louis Vuitton menswear designer Kim Jones is moving on from Louis Vuitton. The fall collection presenting tomorrow (January 18, 2017) in Paris will be his last effort with the label.
With Louis Vuitton since 2011, the 38-year-old Central St Martins College grad is credited with bringing a street smart sensibility to the label and famously was behind the collaboration that joined the French luxury label and Supreme together.
In an Instagram post, Jones thanked the label and people who worked with and mentored him. “Thank you Louis Vuitton for seven wonderful years! You really have been the best and I am grateful to Marc Jacobs for giving me the opportunity to be here in the first place! I also want to thank Michael Burke for being so great and believing in me and Delphine Arnault for her support…”
“It has been a huge privilege to work with Kim,” said Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke. “All of us who have been fortunate to work with Kim wish him continued success in his next venture.”
While there has been chatter Jones might move on to vacant design positions at Burberry and Versace, Jones thus far hasn’t made mention of what his plans are.
