In a playful exchange on Twitter, Grammy-nominated SZA hinted at a deluxe version of Ctrl featuring six bonus tracks. Linking to a tweet featuring a video of SZA performing an unreleased verse from “Love Galore,” a fan asked SZA, “Hey girl I was just wondering if you could drop this as a bonus track to ctrl if it’s no problem? Thanks just lemme know how you feel about it.”
Known for interacting with her fan base, SZA responded, “Yah got about 6 bonus tracks so far we got room ta add.”
She made a similar statement back in August 2017 in response to a fan wondering about a clip from a track that didn’t make the cut for Ctrl. “Man this video is literally shot n edited,” SZA wrote, “Regret not putting it on the album. Das wat da delux is foe.”
In addition to the bonus tracks, it was reported in a January 2018 NY Times interview she’s already finished three songs with Mark Ronson and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, who she’s been working on an album with since October of last year.
This is SZA so there hasn’t been much clarity as it relates to timing for the deluxe version of Ctrl or the album or for that matter if either one is a certainty. One has to assume something new from SZA will come in 2018 but one never knows.
