Fresh off of performing “El Anillo” at the Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, Jennifer Lopez releases a Santiago Salviche-directed visual for the song. Giving up “Game of Throne” vibes, the ornate video taps into royal court power plays and shows Lopez as a queen, dripping in jewels and metallic costumes throughout.
Wearing a total of five looks, the video was styled by Rob Zandardi and Mariel Haenn, who tapped designer Laurel Dewitt to create a total of 26 custom looks for Lopez and her back up dancers, who were styled by Ramee Randall. All of the jewels in the video were provided by Tiffany.
The title of the song translates to “the ring” in English and indeed, Lopez is wondering when she will receive one from her beau, singing (in an English translation), “You’ve given me so much that I’ve been thinking, I already have it all, but when will I get the ring?”
Lopez had a remote interview with Ebro Darden on his Beats 1 show to discuss the song and what it means to her. Lopez admitted the song was about her beau, Alex Rodriguez but added she’s not pushing for a proposal. “Making someone fight for you, that’s what the concept it was. Fight for me and then you can ask me to marry you,” she said.
The single will be included on her eighth studio album, Por Primera Vez, dropping some time in 2018.
