Uniqlo through its UT division celebrates the arrival of spring flowers with a cheery Takashi Murakami capsule, consisting of t-shirts and an adorable plush toy. The collection references a collection of Murakami’s work titled “Anna koto iina dekitara iina,” created for a multi-artist “Doraemon” exhibit in Tokyo that ran through January 2018.
If by chance you’re not a manga follower, “Doraemon” is the title of a manga series written by Fujiko F. Fujio. The story stars the hapless Nobita Nobi, who is helped through tough times by a robot cat named Doraemon.
Murakami’s collection features graphics of the series’ two characters plus Murakami’s much-loved flower creations.
Priced from $9.90 up to $29.90 for the plush, the Doraemon collection is sized for adults and children and will available at Uniqlo’s store at 555 Fifth Avenue on April 26, 2018. On the day of the launch, Murakami will be on hand for a meet and greet.
The collection will be available in additional stores and uniqlo.com in May (Uniqlo hasn’t provided the day as of yet). Note, the plush toy will only be sold online and at the Fifth Avenue store, plus Uniqlo’s store at 546 Broadway in New York and 830 Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
