Céline has revealed a lookbook for the French label’s pre-fall 2018 collection, the final one designed by Phoebe Philo, who declared her intention to retire in December of 2017.
The lookbook was shot by Philo’s friend Juergen Teller and features models Binx and Karlon Walter, both of whom are wearing seemingly not a drop of makeup.
The clothes are signature Philo, clean, effortlessly cool and at turns subtly artful. Philo puts an exclamation mark on the offerings with a black boot that seems utilitarian and thus oddly out out of place though no doubt as worn by the correct wearer will create fashion magic striding down a city street.
The upcoming fall 2018 collection was designed by the Céline design team. Hedi Slimane was announced as the head designer in February 2018 and will show his first collection in October 2018. In addition to womenswear, he will launch a menswear line.
Fair thee well, Ms. Philo. We shall miss you.
