As part of Nike’s “Art of a Champion” series designed to celebrate NBA champions, the brand paid tribute to WNBA great Maya Moore with a PE (player exclusive) Jordan Retro 11. Dubbed “Rook to Queen,” the shoe celebrates her history from her rookie season as the No. 1 draft pick for the Minnesota Lynx to racking up four championship over the course of seven seasons.
The shoe’s fuchsia colorway pays homage to her performance in game three of the 2011 WNBA finals at which she hit a three-point shot, enabling the Lynx to prevail over the Atlanta Dream and take who the trophy.
The shoe features a suede upper with a cracked metallic fuchsia overlay. There are also fuchsia accents on the tongue, heel and sole of the shoe. Tipping a hat to her championship trophy, the aglets and lace tips are gold, as is the deubrés, which is imprinted with the year 2011.
