Korean-based MCM made its debut presentation at Pitti Uomo in Florence on June 17, 2018, with a spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection titled “Luft,” the German word for air.
Designed by MCM’s Milan-based design team, offerings were sporty and colorful with a utilitarian edge and included airy pieces like nylon parkas, anoraks and jumpsuits as well as denim jackets and jeans.
In an interview with The National, MCM label head Kim Sung-Joo stated, “This is what the new generations are looking for, to be hands-free. Our brand DNA is the backpack, which is about a global nomad lifestyle. We are looking to millennials and to gen Z, and what they are looking for is freedom.”
