Tokyo-based Sacai combined men’s spring 2019 looks with women’s resort collection for its presentation in Paris on Friday (June 22, 2019). The label combined its expertise at creating beautifully layered and artfully askew garments with the verve of Pendleton’s Native American-inspired prints.
The collection also included a Nike collaboration, which includes a hybrid Blazer/Dunk silhouette as well as a Waffle Daybreak/LDV Fusion.
In Sacai’s Instagram feed, some commenters accused Sacai’s of appropriating Native American-inspired prints. While Pendleton sometimes works with and donates to organizations that aid Native Americans, the company is still viewed as exploitative by some.
