New Jersey-raiase singer/songwriter SZA let it be known on Twitter on Sunday night (June 17, 2018) that the damage to her vocal chords is not as severe as she previously thought. She wrote, “I’m blessed to say my voice is not permanently damaged and i’ve been working daily to get back. Slowly but surely.”
Issues for the 27-year-old arose during TDE’s “The Championship Tour,” which kicked off in Vancouver on May 4th. On May 22, TDE CEO Anthony Tiffith announced he was taking SZA off the tour because of vocal issues. He wrote, “I have to take SZA off for a few days on the tour. Her vocal chords are swollen and she have to rest her voice to prevent any permanent damage. We been monitoring her close and this is the reason she missed the Arizona and New Mexico dates. She’ll see the doctor again in a few days and I’ll update you guys on her status. As for the dates she missed, we’ll figure out a way to make it up to you guys.”
SZA chose to perform when the tour hit New York Ciy on May 29th, but following the event she went on Twitter where she wrote her vocal chords were permanently damaged.
“The Championship Tour” wrapped up on June 16th in Pittsburth, Pennsylvania. SZA has told fans in social media exchanges she will find a way to make up the missed tour dates.
