New York’s own Princess Nokia aka Destiny Frasqueri has dropped a visual for “Morphine,” a track from her emo-flavored “A Girl Cried Red” mixtape.
Directed by Frasqueri and Travis Libin, the dance-filled visual amusingly shouts out cybergoth culture through use of the choreography made famous in the 2011 video featuring German goths dancing under a highway overpass. The video includes a cameo by dancer/singer/artist Kyra Cherie.
Nokia commented on the video on Instagram where she wrote, “The future is queer trans non binary and fluid alike. It’s is black brown red yellow and mixed all over. It is a spectrum Thank you to my beautiful cast for creating this beautiful project with me to celebrate representation and beauty.”
