Once again, Nike comes straight for your heartstrings with a new ad promoting Serena Williams’ 18th appearance at the U.S. Open Tennis tournament in New York. Released on the first day of the event (August 27, 2018), the visual shows the tennis superstar as a nine-year-old being coached by her father, Richard Williams, whose words of encouragement are used as a voice over. The clips of her being coached are interspersed with shots of her various appearances at the U.S. Open.
Serena shared the video on Twitter, where she wrote, “If you don’t dare to try and chase your dreams, you’ll rob yourself the joy of doing it. Don’t just dream it.#JustDoIt.”
Richard began coaching Serena and her sister Venus when they were four and a half years old on public tennis courts in Compton, Los Angeles.
