Nike NYC shouts out Brooklyn’s J’ouvert celebration, a pre-West Indian Day Parade event that take place in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The two-shoe capsule is comprised a gold and black Air Force 1 and a black Air Max 95 silhouette with a multi-colored stripe. The coloring is a tribute to the J’ouvert tradition of attendees spraying each other with paint.
According to press, “[The colorways] symbolize paint that covers fêters on the night of J’ouvert, and the endless sea of flags and costumes that represent each community on parade day. Together, the collection celebrates the love and unity that makes this one of NYC’s most special moments.”
Both shoes will be available to purchase at Alumni at 298 Utica Avenue in Brooklyn on August 25, 2018 from 12:00-7:00 PM EST. The shoes will also be available to purchase at Nike’s Brooklyn factory store (2236 Nostrand Avenue) starting August 30th.
Speaking of J’ouvert, this year’s event marks the first year J’ouvert will have an official route and will also be permitted. Find more info here.
