New York-based label Pyer Moss has previewed a fall 2018 campaign focused on game-changing educators. In episode one, titled “Self Healing,” the label profiles Baltimore Design School eighth grade teacher Valencia Clay, who is known for her ability to teach students to think critically. In the video, Clay explains, “I listen to my students. I make them write poetry, paint pictures, we do plays. We do things in which they can speak to me. And I can figure out what they need and I give it to them.”
A second visual titled “Self Actualization” features Dr. Nadia Lopez, a principal, who in 2010 opened Mott Hall Bridges Academy in Brownsville, Brooklyn, one of the New York’s poorest communities. Now boasting six graduating classes, Lopez in the visual states, “I opened a school to close a prison.”
The campaign includes images of Clay and Lopez wearing looks from the fall collection with a shoot photographed at Mott Hall Bridges Academy.
Pyer Moss turned heads with during New York Fashion Week in September with a runway presentation held at Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn. Check out Pyer Moss’s spring 2019 presentation here.
