Beyoncé gave her fans a Halloween two-for, starting out with a Toni Braxton tribute and finishing up with her husband with costumes paying tribute to Olympians Florence Griffith Joyner and Tommie Smith. The dynamic duo wore the costume to Diddy’s Halloween event.
For her look, Bey sported the one-legged Adidas running leotard and running shoes Joyner, affectionately known as Flo-Jo, wore during the 1988 Olympics Trials, where she set a new world record in the 100 meter race. Her record of 10.49 seconds remains unbroken to this day.
Joyner’s life was cut short at the age of 37 when she passed away during her sleep from a severe epileptic seizure.
In the image, Jay-Z pays tribute to the then 24-year-old Smith who raised his right arm in a black power salute as a symbolic protest against racism in the United States at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, along with John Carlos.
Check them both out below along with video of Joyner running her record-setting race.
