Los Angeles-based Dakkar Studios latest parody effort takes on two of the world’s most powerful fashion logos: Nike and Chanel. Title “What If,” the capsule includes a zip pull pouch in six colors, a zip wallet in four colors, an a side-zip hoodie and embroidered ring neck sweatshirt in two colors, all of which are co-branded with Nike’s Swoosh and Chanel’s double-C logo.
While Chanel is known for keeping collaborations at arm’s length, it’s opened up to the concept a bit more as of late. Last hear it partnered with Colette and Pharrell on a very rare Adidas Originals Hu sneaker. Reflecting Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld’s tight relationship with Pharrell, the French label is also offering a men’s capsule made in collaboration with the Virginia-born creative for spring 2019. Way back in 2005, Chanel also partnered with Reebok on an Insta Pump Fury silhouette. So while it’s linked with Adidas and Reebok, Chanel and Nike remain uncharted territory.
As an experiment on the appeal of a Chanel and Nike collaboration, a simple Google search gathers an impressive amount of apparel and accessories. One can only imagine the level of hype these two brands would create if such a collaboration were to happen.
In the meantime, there’s something fun and ironic about the parodies that we can’t say no to. Priced from $25 for wallets up to $100 for the size-zip hoodie, get your hands on these items while they last at dakkar.myshopify.com
