Walt Disney Pictures today (November 23, 2018) released its first trailer for the remake of The Lion King, a film that made it first debut in 1994.
The trailer references the original film’s often-referenced opening scene when Rafiki holds up baby Simba to present him to the inhabitants of the Pride Lands. James Earl Jones narrates the scene while “Circle of Life” plays in the background.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is a photorealistic, computer-animated movie that will have you wondering if real animals were used in the making of the movie. Notable voice contributions include Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa.
The film will once again be scored by Hans Zimmer and Elton John will return and rework some of his original compositions. It has been reported that John, Tim Rice and Beyoncé may create a new song for the end credits of the film.
Look for The Lion King to launch on July 19th, 2019.
