Rihanna over the past few months has been quietly providing support for Rivian, an electric car company her boyfriend Hassan Jameel’s family business has invested large amounts of money in. She and the company follow each other on Instagram, and yesterday (November 26, 2018), she uploaded an image of the company’s debut vehicle (shown above) with a single heart onto her Instagram Stories feed.
Founded nine years ago by R.J. Scaringe, the San Jose-based Rivian had a big coming out event last night (November 27th) that included a working version of the pick-up truck .
The event was celebrated with a VIP party at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles attended by Scaringe, Rivian executives, and yes, Jameel and Rihanna (who wore an Alexander McQueen fall 2018 black lace jacket to the event, according to Haus of Rihanna).
While it’s possible that Rihanna, too, is an investor, Jameel and his family are known for their involvement in the automobile industry and their investment company, Abdul Latif Jameel, is on the record as one of the Rivian’s biggest investors.
