Oscar/Tony/Emmy-award winning actress and “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg was tapped to go sneaker shopping with Complex’s Joe La Puma at Stadium Goods in New York.
She’s a great choice because she’s long been known for her love of shoes and especially sneakers, which she’s been known to wear on the red carpet.
In the video, Goldberg says a lot of her purchases are driven by how the shoe makes her feel when she looks at her feet, and she called out Nike’s Foamposite silhouette as one of her all-time favorite shoes. “This is the closest to a Hobbit foot as you’re going to get,” she explained. “I just think they’re fun and they didn’t bore me.”
When La Puma referenced Kanye West and asked about whether one should separate the art from the artist, Goldberg said, “Yes, you have to. People who create stuff sometimes are out there. And I just feel like, I can’t judge anybody’s craziness. I have my own.”
When it came time to make purchases, Goldberg chose Kith x Converse x Coca-Cola Chuck 70 ($499), Nike x Acronym Air Vapormax Moc 2 ($330), Adidas Nemeziz Tango 17+ ($275) and Nike Air Max 1 “Curry” ($80).
It should be noted, Goldberg is not one to stockpile her purchases. Following the shoe, she was spotted on “The View” wearing the Converse x Kith x Coca-Cola Chuck Taylor kicks she purchased.
