Los Angeles-based Phlemuns has queued up its first drop for Non Basics, a sub-label that maintains the parent label’s gender-free approach while at the same time taking a sportier approach. Featured items include cargo pants, along with a jacket, button down and backless top among other items.
Founded by James Flemons and Lexie Park, the designers explained the concept behind Non Basics in an interview with Paper. They explained, “Fashion can seem so intimidating and too cool [so] our goal was to make images and clothes that made people happy. The foundation was loosely based off of the lifestyle feeling we grew up with that The GAP, United Colors of Benetton, and FUBU used to promote in the ’90s and 00s. Nice stylish basics that were an affordable go-to accompanied by beautiful memorable imagery.”
