Nike and Off-White’s “The Ten” silhouettes first hit retail in September 2017 and its looks like they will come to an end just over a year later in January 2019. On Instagram live, Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, alluded to the end in a post that read: “small fact: personally I’m visually obsessed with the combination of black sneaker / white swoosh white laces. hence every addition of the last ever “ten” came as such.
News that the series would end first emerged in late November 2017 via @py_rates, who said the final launch would include an Air Max 90 and Air Force 1 shoe, both of which would launch on January 17th. In contrast to Abloh’s statement, The Air Max 90 is shown in “parachute beige” though the Air Force 1 is indeed a black shoe with a white shoe and laces.
However, while “The Ten” offerings will end, Nike and Off-White’s partnership will continue. Off-White’s spring 2019 “Track and Field” presentation included two new sneaker silhouettes made in collaboration with Nike, the Vapor Street and Waffle Racer, which will be offered in three colors.
According to @py_rates, Nike and Off-White are also planning to launch an Air Force 1 in blue (see below) to commemorate Virgil Abloh’s exhibition at the MCA Chicago museum. And while yes, “The Ten” included an Air Force 1 silhouette, the MCA AF1 includes design details that separate it from “The Ten” shoes. There are also prior ComplexCon and MOMA Nike x Off-White Air Force 1 silhouettes that fall into the same category.
