Shortly before Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, made history on January 3, 2018 as the youngest woman elected to Congress, Twitter feed @anonymousq1776 shared a video of her dancing joyously on a rooftop with her college classmates.
Referencing Ocasio-Cortez’s use of the name “Sandy” as a college student Twitter user, the account wrote, “Here is America’s favorite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is… …High School video of ‘Sandy’ Ocasio-Cortez.”
Shot while she was a student at Boston University, the video features a gorgeous Ocasio-Cortez and her classmates dancing to the 2009 Phoenix single “Lisztomania.” The choreography was in part a tribute to The Breakfast Club (filmed in 1985, four years before Ocasio was born!) with Ocasio-Cortez specifically paying homage to moves made by Allison, played by actress Ally Sheedy’s moves.
As it turns out, the video has been hiding in plain sight with a YouTube upload date of September 2010.
Clearly the leak was an effort to undermine Ocasio-Cortez’s big moment, but not unlike Lucy pulling out the football on Charlie with Ocasio-Cortez’s enemies taking on the role of both characters, the plot once again failed.
The over-the-top tweet was badly ratioed, the attack was turned into a meme and even Sheedy weighed in on Twitter where she wrote that she approved of Ocasio-Cortez’s moves.
I’m pretty happy ‘bout it.

Meanwhile, in much more significant news, Ocasio-Cortez wore suffragettes white for her historic Washington D.C. swearing in where she became a part of the 116th Congress, one that included a record number of women and minorities.
Below check out Ocasio-Cortez and her Boston University classmates along with a shot of her first day in Congress.
