This year Champion marks its 100 anniversary with a campaign rooted in celebrating team spirit. The brand has marked the occasion with a campaign featuring NBA All-Star Magic Johnson, London’s VC, a woman’s motorcycle club (above) and Urban Dove, a New York-based high school for at-risk teens. Throughout the year, Champion will drop additional spots highlighting team spirit.
As part of the effort, Champion has invited the public to share their team spirit stories on Champion100.com
Commenting on the brand’s centennial, Hanesbrand president Jon Ram stated in a press release, “This significant milestone for Champion allows us to reflect on what team and the evolution of sports means today to consumers around the globe. Helping people come together as teams and being innovators in the industry has been an important part of our brand’s story since the very beginning. Now is the time to look ahead and celebrate how teams today have the power to change the world for the better, and how we assist in enabling them.”
Established in 1919 in Rochester, NY, Champion has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years as propelled by a series of savvy collaborations with streetwear brands and return of the heritage athleisure trend.
