Italian luxury label Gucci is releasing a photography book dedicated to Harlem’s own Dapper Dan ne Daniel Day, the storied designer with whom the label collaborated in 2018. Titled Dapper Dan’s Harlem, the book is comprised of images shot by filmmaker Ari Marcopoulos.
Photographs showcase Harlem, his atelier which was closed in 1992 but then re-opened in collaboration with Gucci in 2017. The book also features portraits of friends and associates of Dapper Dan including Gucci Ghost ne Trevor Andrew, artist/poet Cleo Wade, businessman Steve Stoute and chef Marcus Samuelson.
Priced at $200 with only 500 copies made, the books will be released on January 8, 2018 at the Gucci Garden in Florence, Italy, and the Gucci Wooster bookstore in New York. Dapper Dan will be in attendance to sign copies and celebrate the Florence launch, which coincides with the inaugural day of Pitti Uomo.
