Nike and Off-White last week previewed a new Serena Williams tennis collection featuring a black add white printed skirt, top and cape. The capsule also included an unseen t-shirt and cap.
Williams wore the black and white outfit for her debut at The French Open yesterday (May 27, 2019) where she rallied to defeat Vitalia Diatchenko. The outfit was viewed as a triumphant statement on the anniversary of last year’s French Open, where she wore a black catsuit, an outfit choice that caused an uproar.
Timed with the start of her match, Nike dropped the t-shirt yesterday (May 28, 2019) on nike.com. Priced at $55, the t-shirt was offered in either black or white. The front of the t-shirt was co-branded with Nike and Off-White while the back reads: “Je ne m’arrêterai jamais,” which translates to never stop fighting.
The t-shirt is now sold out, however, the cap ($24) is listed as “coming soon.” While there isn’t any exact timing, you can anticipate the cap launch will be synced up with her French Open appearances. Her next match takes places at a time to be decided on May 30th.
As for Williams’ French Open outfit, Nike hasn’t provided details on its launch, but if it follows the pattern of the Nike x Off-White outfit she wore for the New York Open, it will likely launch at Nike flagship stores in the weeks ahead.
