Beyoncé fans got their fix last night (July 10, 2019) with the multi-talented performer appearing on the red carpet for The Lion King premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. In the film, Beyoncé is the voice of Nala, a lioness who convinces Simba (voiced by Donald Glover) he needs to return home.
She followed up on her appearance with the release of the gospel-influenced “Spirit,” the debut single for the movie soundtrack, releasing on July 11th. In addition to the official soundtrack, Beyoncé is producing an album titled The Lion King: The Gift, which will drop on July 19th.
Wearing an ornate Alexander McQueen gown worthy of royalty on the red carpet, Beyoncé was accompanied by her seven-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, and her husband, Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter).
When asked on the red carpet about additional tracks featured on the soundtrack, Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams played coy and chose to stay mum.
“Spirit” is now available on all streaming platforms. Check it out on Spotify below, along with Williams’ interview and additional Beyoncé images.
