Pyer Moss designer Kerby Jean-Raymond today (July 30, 2019) was announced as artistic director of Reebok Studies ___ (the blank represents a placeholder for the name of each collaborator), a new division at Reebok whose goal is fostering under-the-radar creative talent and ideas. At the same time The Reebok by Pyer Moss partnership has been extended.
Jean-Raymond’s collaborative efforts with Reebok began in 2017 with a single shoe and have grown to include multiple shoe collaborations plus two apparel collections. According to Business of Fashion, Jean-Raymond receives royalties on sales of his designs.
Reebok vice president of creative direction Karen Reuther added, “It really is about future lines, future collections, future potential collaborations, exploring activations, searching for new talent; it’s a space [where] we don’t want to limit creativity.”
While Reebok retains its status as a well known global sport brand, its revenue fell three percent in 2018. And while its inability to flourish has fueled rumors of Adidas selling the brand, company CEO Kasper Rorsted dismissed the chatter in a March 2019 interview when he noted the company was focused on getting the brand back into growth mode.
