Celebrated designer Jean-Paul Gaultier is responsible for countless iconic design moments over the span of a close to 50-year career. Included among his top ten design ideas would have to be the mesh, tribal tattoo designs he first showed as part of his spring ’94, “Les Tatouages” ready-to-wear collection.
Buoyed by a growing interest in ’90s-era vintage design combined with a surge of interest in body-revealing knit tops, all of which is underscored by a recent Supreme collabo, Gaultier’s printed tops are having a moment among fashion lovers, who pride themselves on wearing one-of-a-kind items.
You’d be right if you guessed Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are on board with the look, at the same time JPG’s vintage designs have also been spotted on SZA, Bella Hadid, Leomie Anderson, Megan Thee Stallion, Paloma Ford, Paloma Elsesser, Esther Ng and rapper Lancey Fouxx, among others. Meanwhile, just last night (August 25, 2019) Bronx-native Cardi B showed out in a vintage Jean Paul Gualtier bodycon dress to attend the premier for Hustlers, a movie she stars in with Jennifer Lopez.
