Katie Holmes caused a quiet stir this week when she was shot on Wednesday (August 28, 2019) while doing some shopping in SoHo. Her outfit was a classic pairing of a cardigan and jeans but with a twist that came in the form of a cashmere bra, casually exposed as she lifted her arm to call a cab.
Mainly known for her romantic partners, Holmes’ sartorial choice caused a major stir on Twitter, enough so when Khaite identified itself as the maker of the bra on Instagram, it sold out on the label’s store within an hour.
Designed by Catherine Holstein, Khaite has included cashmere bras in its line for two years. And if the bra looks teeny-tiny, Holstein says the nature of cashmere means it expands. In an email exchange with The Cut, she explained the bra “easily stretches” over many cup sizes.
Priced at $520 and available in XS-L, the Eda bra is offered in black, Kelly green and barley, the color worn by Holmes, which is now sold out. Priced at $1,540, the cardigan is sized from XS-L and is only available in barley.
