Singer and fashion icon Rihanna stepped out in style at her star-studded Savage X Fenty presentation, held last night (September 10, 2019) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. While the focus was on fashion, reporters who were lucky to land an exchange with her on the red carpet not surprisingly circled the convo back to music.
On the topic of her upcoming, ninth studio album, Rihanna ticked off multiple priorities filling her time and bluntly stated, “You’re all going to have to wait, Navy, I’m so sorry.”
The Entertainment Tonight reporter then segued to Rihanna potentially performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2020. The topic is a thorny one because last year Rihanna made it clear she stood with ex-NFL player Colin Kaepernick and thus wouldn’t perform at the event, and since then she’s also signaled she’s less than thrilled with Jay-Z getting involved with the controversial league.
Expertly brushing off the Super Bowl query, Rihanna stated, “Well actually this is my first time I’m hearing of the Super Bowl since the last Super Bowl. Girl, I still got an album to finish. And you ask about Super Bowl, really? The fans are about to have my neck!”
On a lighter note, when asked about Lizzo, the Bajan Boss happily co-signed the Detroit-born rapper. While there is no collaborative music currently in the works, Rihanna enthusiastically noted, “I would collaborate with her on the lights for this interview right
