Florence-based Gucci is in the midst of opening a second restaurant, adding a second location in Rodeo Drive, a Los Angeles neighborhood known for its high-end shopping.
The restaurant will open in spring 2020 and follows the the January 2018 opening of Osteria (image above) in Florence, a 50-seat space located within the Gucci Garden gallery space. The Los Angeles location will be a rooftop cafe and will open in partnership with Italian chef Massimo Bottura, who also manages the Florence location.
Gucci’s plans for a second restaurant reflect a broader trend among brands to provide experiences that extend their brands’ messaging beyond clothing and accessories that account for the bulk of their sales Additional brands with successful restaurants include Ralph Lauren‘s The Polo Bar, Prada‘s Pasticceria Marchesi, Tiffany‘s The Blue Box Cafe, Burberry‘s Thomas’s and Dior‘s Café Dior.
