Forever on the go CEO Rihanna spent the evening in London where she attended British Fashion Council‘s annual Fashion Awards. The 31-year-old mogul was in attendance as the CEO/founder of LVMH‘s Paris-based label Fenty, which took home the award for the even’s urban luxe category. Additional urban luxe category nominees included Alyx, Marine Serre, Martine Rose and Moncler Genius.
As styled by Fenty creative director Jahleel Weaver, the creative powerhouse wore head-to-toe Fenty, a look that layered a “wasabi green” over-sized sheer shirt over a structured mini dress, which was paired with satin ankle-lace pumps. The entire look is a preview of a new capsule that will launch on December 6, 2019 at Selfridges.
Music icon Janet Jackson and Tyler the Creator took the stage to introduce the category with Jackson announcing Rihanna as the award winner. Commenting on her selection, Jackson stated, You’re loved for your style, your boldness and your strength as a woman. You’re respected as a successful artist, fashion designer, activist and entrepreneur.”
Following the event, Rihanna stated on social media, “Thank you to the BFC for this wonderful opportunity which means so much to me as a young black woman. This is a great achievement for our brand. Rihanna and Fenty are honored to win the Urban Luxe category at the BFA 2019.”
