Vainglory Brings Its Dope Pocket Boxes To New York City

Philly-based label Vainglory as led by Alex Foley and Milana Lewis headed northward to New York where the label held its first ever pop-up shop. Known for its box-shaped handbag silhouette infused with streetwear sensibilities, Vainglory has collaborated with Ubiq, Nike and Jordan, among others.

Vainglory’s New York pop-up is located at 187 East Broadway in Manhattan on December 14, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

One of our faves, DJ and stylist Matthew Mazur, aka Mazurbate, teams up with music and fashion creative Tama Gucci on a series of projects titled “Tesoros”, the Spanish word which translates to “treasures".

The first installment features the Tesoros Totes: L.L. Bean boat totes reimagined with a curated mix of vintage and new brooches and pins sourced from around the globe. Each one-of-a-kind piece is priced at $300 for the small tote and $550 for the extra-large tote.

Rapper Jim Jones has stirred conversation within sneaker culture today, over his claim that drug dealers are responsible for starting sneaker culture. "Michael Jordan made em but the drug dealers made me want to buy them," he wrote on Instagram. He also called out "weird dudes doing sneaker shows," as negatively impacting demand.

Jones isn't the first to credit drug dealers' influence. Harlem designer Dapper Dan in his autobiography noted that in the '90s, drug dealers were not only his best customers, they were also the trendsetters that everyone--including rappers--followed.

Nelly's Apple Bottoms label has officially relaunched online. The collection features T-shirts, jackets, hoodies, and, of course, the signature denim. Nelly first launched the label on 2003.
