Vans Honors Its Early-Era Skateboard Roots With ‘Mismatch Era’ Capsule

California-based Vans honors its skateboard roots with a “Mismatch Era” capsule themed on mismatched Era and Slip-On silhouettes. The collection references the formative years of the company when local skateboarders would replace a worn out shoe with a single replacement shoe.

According to Vans press on the launch, “The Era was introduced in 1976 providing skateboarders both style and function. When one shoe blew out from riding, skateboarders from Dogtown could walk into the Vans store to replace it leaving them with a mix and match pair. For the upcoming season, we are celebrating that legacy with the Mismatch Era, available this January.”
