It was a night of historic firsts at the 65th annual Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last night (January 26, 2020). More so than any artist, it was a game changing night for Billie Eilish (real name Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell), who swept the award show’s four most prestigious categories: best new artist, record of the year, album of the year and song of the year.
Eilish also took home best pop vocal album, for a total of five Grammy Awards. Meanwhile, her brother/songwriting partner, Finneas O’Connell, was awarded record of the year, album of the year, song of the year, best engineered album non-classical and producer of the year.
Eilish is the first woman to win all four categories in the same year and at age 18, she’s the youngest person to ever win the Grammy Awards’ album of the year award. Prior to Eilish, the youngest to take home the award for the same category was Taylor Swift who took home the award for Fearless at age 20. Eilish is also first woman and second person ever to win record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist in the same year.
Styled by Samantha Burkhard, Eilish wore head-to-toe custom Gucci including a crystal-embroidered over-sized bowling shirt and pants worn with a crystal-covered chartreuse turtleneck. Eilish went all in on accessories with a GG-logo face mask and fingerless gloves, Flashtrek sneakers with coordinated GG-logo nails by Emi Kudo.
Eilish’s makeup was handled by Robert Rumsey while her distinct two-tone hair was styled by Mara Roszak.
