Rei Kawakubo-led Comme des Garçons comments on the white-hot pearl jewelry menswear trend with a collaboration with Mikimoto, a Japanese jewelry company founded in 1893 that’s known as the originator of cultured pearls.
First shown on Comme des Garçons Homme’s spring 2020 runway, the debut collection features seven pieces ranging from a necklace detailed with a second strand of pearls to one featuring a silver Comme des Garçons name plate.
The effort with Mikimoto marks Comme des Garçons’ first jewelry collaboration, one that is slated to continue for the next two years.
Ranging in price from $2,800-$39,000, Comme Des Garçons and Mikimoto’s collection will drop in mid-February at Mikimoto’s Ginza stores, as well as Comme Des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores globally.
