Vancouver-born musician Grimes (real name Claire Boucher), announced her pregnancy yesterday (January 8, 2020) on Instagram. The news was revealed with a naked image of the 31-year-old singer that was superimposed with a fetus over her womb.
She confirmed the news in the post’s comments where she responded to a follower who was amused Grimes was topless. Grimes wrote, “I though about censoring them for a hot minute haha (this may get taken down anyway) but the photo is so much less feral without the nipples. Plus being knocked up is a very feral & war-like state of being.”
The post was removed by Instagram for violating nudity guidelines though Grimes reposted it with her nipples blurred out. Today she posted another full body image in which she appears to be several months pregnant.
Grimes has been dating Telsa founder Elon Musk since sometime in 2018 and he is thought to be the father though neither party has confirmed. Musk has been married twice and has five sons by his first wife, Justine Wilson.
Grimes and Musk famously had a run in with singer/songwriter Azealia Banks, who caused a stir when she said she was hanging out in Musk’s Bel-Air, California mansion by herself. Allegedly she had been invited there by Grimes to record music, an effort interrupted by Musk who was in crisis mode after stating in a tweet he was considering taking Telsa private.
Banks responded with enthusiasm to the pregnancy news on Instagram stories where she wrote, “Congratulations c. You made it to the future. Incredible. Inspiring. Blessed. I am filled with so much joy. Love Azealia. @grimes”
