Boston-based Reebok adds an artful touch to its classic Insta Pump Fury silhouette through a collaboration with Distortedd (real name Anhia Santana), a Philly-born creative known for her equal parts energetic/surreal illustrations.
The shoe is part of Reebok’s “It’s a Woman’s World” campaign, which has included collaborations with Jazerai Allen-Lord, record producer WondaGurl, writer and activist Kimberly Drew and sneaker blogger Sanne Poeze.
Distortedd has close ties to streetwear and sneaker culture and prior to Reebok has worked on campaigns with Nike, Adidas and Vans, among other brands.
The slip-on shoe features a white upper detailed with a Distortted illustration concentrated along the back side of the shoe. In Reebok press, the snake-filled illustration is described as “a mix of graffiti-style pastel illustrations inspired by skate culture, street art and her favorite childhood cartoons. The shoe is accompanied by a hang tag featuring Distortedd’s signature eye motiff.
The insole of the shoe features a handwritten message to women that reads, “If you want something as a female, you have to TAKE IT, no one is going to give it to you. You have to work twice as hard. I think that’s where respect comes from–witnessing hard work and passion. You’ve gotta be aggressive, strong minded, loving, positive, passionate but you can’t be too soft. DON’T LET ANYONE WALK ALL OVER YOU! DISTORTED”
Priced at $180 and offered in unisex sizing, the shoe launches on January 6 at 12:00 AM EST on reebok.com.
