Louis Vuitton menswear designer Virgil Abloh continues his examination of the concept of time with an invite to the label’s fall 2020 runway presentation that comes in the form of a grey wall clock whose hands runs counter clockwise. Referencing the venerated French label, the clock’s numbers are swapped out for the LV logo.
On Instagram, Abloh wrote, “in my mind Louis Vuitton show 4 is titled ‘Heaven on Earth’. the invite is a literal piece of time. the clock tho, i re-wired it to spin backwards. there’s also to that metaphor in that but also, as they say “a broke clock is right twice a day…”
The LV clock follows on the heels of Abloh’s effort with IKEA that also included a clock. In the case of the IKEA clock, the hands moved in the proper direction though the clock’s cover was stamped with a graphic that read “TEMPORARY.”
Louis Vuitton’s menswear show will take place on January 16, 2019 at 2:30 PM in Paris.
