Saweetie has dropped a new single titled “Tap In,” a song that samples fellow Bay-area rapper Too Short’s 2006 track “Blow the Whistle.”
In a conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about “Tap In,” Saweetie (real name Diamanté Harper) discussed reaching out to Too Short for permission to use the sample. She explained, “I was like, ‘What if he doesn’t like it?’ But then he liked it, so I’m just excited. I’m so happy that he loves it. I’m so excited for this record. I’ve been gone for a year, but I really had to focus on my artist development because that was something that I was struggling with.”
“Tap Out” is the first single from her upcoming album Pretty Bitch Music, which is scheduled to drop sometime later this year. According to Saweetie, bitch is an acronym for boss, independent, tough, CEO, and hyphy. “Tap Out,” will be followed by a single titled “Saweetie’s Workout Plan.”
