Brooklyn-born nail artist Gracie J, known for her creative direction on TNT’s “Claws” series, has released a self-directed, fun visual celebrating nail art as an art form whose cultural importance extends beyond the beauty world it’s been relegated to.
Gracie, whose Instagram handle and blog is called The Editorial Nail, explained vision behind the project on Instagram where she wrote, “My goal for a long time has been to center The Editorial Nail around intersecting nail art beyond just the beauty and fashion space.
“Like music, nail art is a universal language. It’s so evident in how we interact and react to the most incredible works of art on the tiny canvases our peers create either home or half way across the world.
Inspired by and featuring Teyana Taylor’s “Bare Wit Me” single, the video features Talia Trilogy, Lotus and Jadon Christian, who choreographed the artful movement highlighting their hands and nail designs.
Alongside the visual, Gracie has release an individually tie dyed “Blue Print” t-shirt featuring her nail designs. Priced at $50, it’s now available on theeditorialnail.com/shop-ten along with other items.
