Tokyo-based Sacai as led by Chitose Abe today provided dates for its latest collaboration with Nike, a collection of outerwear pieces. The capsule was first shown on Sacai’s fall 2020 presentation, show earlier this year in January during Paris Fashion Week.
Offerings include a down and wool melton hybrid jacket detailed with faux fur in three colors sized for men; faux fur bomber jacket in four colors sized for women (described as similar to Nike and Sacai’s 2015 Windrunner jacket); MA-1 hoodie in three colors, offered in unisex sizing.
Nike press on the effortreads, “Volume, shape and texture are core to the unisex outerwear pieces, and the complementary MA-1-influenced hoodie. Though the jackets depart from the ubiquitous puffer coat, Abe’s deconstruction and reconstruction of the staple garment grants a playful harmony between binary materials. With the two jackets in the collection, she delivers two different articulations on the idea.”
The collection will launch on October 20, 2020 in Japan at Sacai’s Aoyama flagship store, NikeLab MA5 and Dover Street Market Ginza. The collection will also launch the same day on nike.com.
