To celebrate their 40th anniversary, Stüssy has invited a group of designers to create their version of Stüssy’s enduring World Tour t-shirt.
Designers include Rick Owens, Virgil Abloh, Takahiro Miyashita, Marc Jacobs, and Martine Rose, all of whom represent cities and communities that have influenced and inspired the California-based label.
According to press on the issue, “Each brings a different perspective, sensibility, and intention that juxtaposes with time tested Stüssy design language.”
Stüssy will donate a portion of the net proceeds from each t-shirt to a charity or organization of the designer’s choosing.
Stüssy was founded in 1980 by Shawn Stussy as a surfboard company. The logo was initially hand written on boards using a permanent marker. The company began selling clothing with Stussy’s friend Frank Sinatra Jr. joined the company. Stussy resigned as president in 1996. The brand is still controlled by the Sinatra family.
The 40th Anniversary World Tour Collection will be available in Stüssy Chapter Stores, Dover Street Market and stussy.com at 10:00 AM PST on November 20, 2020.
