Nike and Drake continue their collaborative efforts with news of a new sub-label called NOCTA, a reference to his tendency to put in his best work at night. Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) already runs OVO, a creative platform that includes OVO Clothing.
Debut images reveal a puffer jacket in either yellow of black co-branded with the Nike Swoosh and NOCTA logo on the front the the initials C.L. on the back. There are also nylon track pants detailed with the Swoosh on the front and C.L. and A.W.R. on the back leg.
Reflecting on the launch of NOCTA in a Nike press release, Drake stated, “This moment is full circle for me. I mean, growing up Nike was everything. It felt like every shoe I wanted, every athlete I liked, everything I owned was Nike. It didn’t mean anything unless it had a Swoosh.
“I remember watching all these athletes repping Nike, each doing the unthinkable, and how inspiring it was. I always felt like there was an opportunity for Nike to embrace an entertainer the same way they had athletes. I thought about how crazy it would have been and what it would have meant for an artist to have a flagship Nike deal.”
The NOCTA announcement follows Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” video, which was filmed in Nike’s Beaverton, Oregon headquarters. Nike and Drake followed up with a merch collection celebrating Drake’s upcoming Certified Loverboy album.
NOCTA Launch Date
Drake and Nike’s NOCTA collection will launch globally on December 18, 2020 on nocta.com.
