PVH Corp.-owned Calvin Klein has released a signature black and white campaign for spring 2021 featuring pop culture’s most buzzworthy creatives and activists.
As shot by Mario Sorrenti, Houston born Megan thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete), who once dreamed of modeling for the label, is the clear star of the campaign. Commenting on the effort, Megan told Vogue, “When I grew up, I was like, ‘one day, I want to [model for Calvin Klein]. I don’t know how I’m gonna do it, but I want to do it.’
“In high school, I would definitely wear my pants a little low sometimes, so that people could see my Calvin Klein underwear. And to be a part of it now as Megan Thee Stallion, I’m like, wow, things really come full circle.”
Additional ambassadors includes Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi, Jamaican reggaeton artist Koffee, actor Anthony Ramos, Black Lives Matter Toronto founder Janaya Future Khan, singer and model Rina Sawayama, skateboarder Sage Elsesser, dancer Vinson Fraley and skateboard collective Queer Skate LA.
In addition to still photography, the campaign features video directed by Texas native Terrence Nance who is known for his Random Acts of Flyness HBO series.
Recently interviewed in Vogue, Megan Thee Stallion shares her thoughts on Calvin Klein and says, “Ever since I started wearing bras. I really liked that swag in the early ’90s, when I would see the old campaigns for the jeans or the Calvin Klein underwear and bras.
