Vancouver SoleSavy, a Slack community themed on obtaining coveted sneakers and streetwear, has announced it will use some of the investment funds it recently landed to launch a new, women’s-only platform.
According to press, the new space launches alongside the original members-only platform to afford women an opportunity to “connect with other women in a safe, inclusive online space.”
Recently appointed director of women’s strategy Anna Bediones added, “Somewhere along the line we lost our way in sneakers, and women have been left to figure it out for themselves. We have the resources to create the community we’ve been dreaming of, a place that is safe, supportive, and inclusive for women specifically, so we’re going to build it.
“It will take time but with our growing team and the community behind us, I’m confident that we can create a more equitable future for women who love sneakers.”
Priced at $33/month, the women’s Slack community includes access to SoleSavy’s monitors providing drop and restock alerts on coveted launches as well as raffle-entry software, training, giveaways and other weekly perks.
Along with Slack access, SoleSavvy has also launched “Triple Stitch,” a new podcast for women hosted by Lauren Cardenes aka L, a New York-based writer and content creator.
SoleSavy was launched in 2018 by Justin Dusanj and Dejan Pralica. While there are plenty of online sneaker communities centered around buying, selling and trading product, SoleSavy separated itself from the pack earlier this year when it received $2 million in funding from investors including Bedrock Capital, Jason Calacanis’ LAUNCH fund, and Panache Ventures.
