Nike-sponsored sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson has tapped into a Nicki Minaj meme that’s gone viral on TikTok to talk her sh*t in advance of the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday (August 21, 2021). The meme makes use of an 2017 award speech in which Minaj stated, “I took some time off to rest and now it’s game time, bitches. You have no idea!”
In Richardson’s visual, shot at a hair salon, her smock is pulled back providing a dramatic reveal of the athlete sporting her signature long locks, lashes and extra long square-tip nails while wearing a bright blue Nike branded track shorts and crop tops.
While disqualified from the Summer Olympics, she will compete in a 100-meter race including the three Jamaican sprinters, Elaine Thompson Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson, who swept the race last month in Tokyo.
On social media, there’s been a ton of trash talking between team Sha’Carri and team Jamaica whose supporters have pointed out that even if she hadn’t been disqualified she wouldn’t have won a medal with her qualifying time.
Richardson qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics with a 100-meter time of 10.86 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Trials. At the Tokyo Olympics, Thompson-Herah, Fraser-Pryce and Jackson finished with times of 10.61, 10.74 and 10.76 respectively.
